iPhone Is Going Global

According to Mercury News, it is officially official and breathtakingly imminent: Apple may well be attempting to take over the world via the new iPhone 3G, which will go global on Friday, in twenty two countries.

Apple is under a lot of pressure with this plan, especially considering the fact that bloggers all over the Internet are watching their every move, ready to write up reviews that are either glowing and approving or scathing and dismal. The fact that blog posts of either opinion are generally repeated all over the place only increases the pressure.

By all accounts, Apple intends to have the iPhone 3G in 70 countries by the end of the year, at which time they also plan to sell 10 million phones. The global launch on Friday is their first big step in being able to do that.

As the Mercury News reports, right now only 10 to 12 percent of all the cell phones sold each year are high end mobile devices, or smart phones. However, Apple has big plans, and while they are still somewhat new to the game of smart phones, they intend to work their way into the hearts and minds of cell phone users all over the worlds.

So far, they must be doing their job well. Experts estimate that Apple’s competitors are currently 12 to 18 months behind them, at the very least. This is, of course, in terms of software and Apple’s service, but given the launch of the new 3G network, the promised affordability of the new iPhone, and the features on the phone itself, the software and service is exactly what people want.

Apple is not taking this global launch lightly either. Mercury News says that some people are seriously thinking that Apple has developed its very own War Room, in order to deal with any problems or setbacks. They have back up plans for everything and they seem to be prepared for any possible contingency.

Again, they must be doing something right. Here at stateside, in Europe, and in Asia – not to mention any number of other countries – people are already starting to line up so that they can be sure to get the second generation iPhone as soon as stores open tomorrow.
