The Recharging Process and Your Cellular Phone

Different Types of Recharging Options

There are a number of different types of cellular phone recharging options available to you today.  Of course, the most common manner in which you effectively can recharge your cellular phone is through the use of an AC adaptor.  You simply plug your cellular phone into the AC adaptor unit and in what amounts to a relatively short amount of time you will be able to recharge you cell phone and it will be ready for use.

Some people use the method of recharging a cellular phone using a car battery adaptor.  In this way you can recharge and actually use your cellular phone through an adaptor that plugs into the cigarette lighter in your auto.

Is it Possible to Over Charge Your Battery?

In theory, not really.  However, there is the matter of memory -- which will be discussed in moment -- that can have the net effect of overcharging a cellular phone battery.  But, with the exception of memory issues (which, again, are dealt with separately in this article) it really is not possible to overcharge a properly functioning cellular phone battery.


Understanding Memory Issues

In layperson’s terms, when it comes to a cellular phone battery, a memory issue or memory problem occurs when you place the cellular phone battery on a recharging unit before the battery itself completely is drained of power.  The memory issue or problem occurs in that in the future, that portion of the battery that had not fully discharged when you began the recharging process will no longer be an accessible power supply for your cellular phone.  In time, if you continue to repeat this process, the amount of power that can be stored on your cellular phone battery will continue to decrease until the cellular phone battery itself becomes useless and will require replacement.

Can Cellular Phone Batteries Overheat?

Rarely.  For the most part, cellular phone batteries are very safe devices.  However, there have been some very rare and very isolated incidents when a cellular phone battery has overheated.  With that said, these instances are rare and a person really can consider a cellular phone battery a safe product.

Can Cellular Phone Batteries Cause Cancer?

There have been many rumors in circulation about cellular phones -- one of the more common rumors is that your cellular phone can cause cancer.  In fact, there is some possibility that the transmissions from a cellular phone may be linked to an increased incidence of cancer.  However, there is no evidence whatsoever that the cellular battery is the source of such a potential problem.
