Key Cellular Phone Features to Consider

Screen

When you are in the market for a cellular phone, one of the most important features that you will want to consider is the cellular phone screen.  With all of the different functions and uses that can now be undertaken with a cellular phone, the screen is of paramount importance.

Your Cellular Phone Features Depend on Your Screen

The screen is one of the most important aspects of the ease of use factor in any cellular phone. When you’re in certain situations, size, color, brightness, and resolution all matter. Much of how you choose your phone will rest on the features you want-these, in turn, are largely dependent on the screen.

The Disadvantages of a Small Cellular Phone Screen

For instance, you would not want to get a small screen with a low resolution if you want to surf the ’net on your phone. Web access with a small screen is a waste of your money. If you want internet access, you will likely want one of the large-screen candy-bar cellular phones or a PDA/palm computer style screen.

A Cellular Phone with a Camera

If you’re in the market for a good camera phone, again you’re looking at the candy bar cellular phone. These screens are larger and much higher quality, and many reviews have claimed that for camera shots and videos they are second-to-none. While these phones are a little bulkier, they are also sturdier, so the trade-off is worth it. Keep in mind that the higher quality cellular phone you purchase, the more it will cost, so if you don’t really need amazing quality photos and are on a tight budget, consider another phone.

Your Cellular Phone and Travel

If you travel a lot, you may also want the larger screen. Travelers often like the internet/GPS navigation features of certain cellular phones, and opt for them quickly. However, again you should shop for the screen as much as for the rest of the phone. Who wants to be in the middle of nowhere at night and not be able to see the text and graphics they need?

The Screen's Impact on Battery Life

Remember that screens also affect battery life. You can alleviate some strain on your battery by darkening your screen a little. However, remember that the candy bar phones have large batteries and a much longer battery life as a result. If this is important, you may want to consider the candy bar cellular phone, or make sure your PDA or palm computer phone comes with a large battery. The increased weight will be worth it.

Protecting Your Cellular Phone Screen

One advantage to the flip phones, clamshells, and slider phones is that some part of the cellular phone is protected. If you don’t need a superior screen resolution, consider these phones for their screen and keypad protection. Most of them are capable of reasonable camera phone shots and transmissions.
